Tulip Festival, May, Spring Style, Spring Fashion, Denim Dress, Over the Knee Boots, Things to do in Spring

April showers bring May flowers, and that they do! Last year I missed out on hitting one of the local tulip festivals, so I was thrilled this year that I had some time off work to make the trip. Here is why hitting a tulip festival should be on your list next May!

Living in Vancouver, BC we are so lucky to have two fabulous tulip festivals located near by. Abbotsford, BC hosts Bloom. The festival takes place from mid April to mid May. An hour and a half south of the Canadian/United States border in Washington State lies a cute little town called La Conner. Here lies every May, The Skagit Valley Tulip festival and the infamous Roozengarde.

This year we made our way down to The Skagit Valley Tulip festival so we could hit La Conner then stop at El Gitano for some delicious and authentic Mexican food on the way home! A trip down to Washington wouldn’t be the same without my fill of chips and salsa, and of course, enchiladas!!

La Conner is located on the Swinomish Channel in Skagit County, Washington. It is home to some beautiful boutiques, restaurants, cafes and is the perfect spot for a delicious ice cream on a sunny, warm spring afternoon! I was truly taken with the town’s charm, picturesque views and quaintness.

Apart from nearly freezing to death, we lucked out with not having too many people around, which made for some stunning photo opportunities. Roozengarde is seriously breathtaking! The colours are so vivid and vibrant, and I honestly felt like a really life Alice in Wonderland.Tulips, Tulip festival, Things to do in spring, Skagit Valley Tulip Festival, La Conner, Washington State, RoozengardeTulips, Tulip fields, Tulip festivals, La Conner, Washington State, Things to do in SpringTulips, Tulip festival, Things to do in spring, Skagit Valley Tulip Festival, La Conner, Washington State, RoozengardeTulips, Tulip Festival, Things to do in Spring, Skagit Valley Tulip Festival, La Conner, Washington State, RoozengardeTulips, Tulip festival, Things to do in Spring, Skagit Valley Tulip Festival, La Conner, Washington State, Roozengarde

I’m so lucky that my main squeeze is a great photographer and was able to capture some stunning shots!

This outfit was planned out before making the visit. A denim dress is perfect because it doesn’t take away from the gorgeous surroundings. After all, the tulips are definitely the stars of the show and I wanted their beauty to really shine through! I am totally in love these camel coloured over the knee boots! They are so fun for spring and summer, and honestly really comfortable to run around in! Paired with a fun hat and a matching camel belt, and you are Alice ready to get lost in Wonderland!
