Your smile tells your story, which is why I was so excited when Smile Brilliant reached out to me. Dental health is so important, and whitening my teeth is something I have had on my mind for a while. Call me vain, but to me a smile is everything. As a flight attendant it is so important to me that our passengers are met with a friendly smile and warm welcome on our flight. The smallest gesture of a smile is my way of knowing that I have had a positive impact on someone and gives me the confidence to continue to put my best foot forward.
Now I admit I was slightly skeptical about using an at home teeth whitening system, but having used store bought whitening strips in the past, I was really keen to try it out!
I have REALLY sensitive teeth, so if you are sitting here reading this, then don’t worry, because they have a whitening system just for you. I ordered their sensitive system. Now I did not have heavy stains, but since Sensodyne tooth paste seems to be my best friend, I wanted to play it safe. In order to achieve best results, they suggest you give up coffee and red wine for the duration of the whitening treatments. I totally get where they are coming from, but this girl runs off coffee in the AM and who doesn’t love a good glass of red to unwind?! So if I’m being completely honest, I did not ditch coffee or wine, but I did see a noticeable difference from using Smile Brilliant’s teeth whitening system.
Just like a smile, first impressions say so much. The whitening system was shipped to me in just a few short days and I was really impressed with their service.
So how does their whitening system work:
- Create your impressions
- Ship your impressions back to Smile Brilliant
- Smile Brilliant creates your custom fitted trays and ships them back to you
- Time to get whitening!
- Cover bottom of trays with the whitening gel and leave in for 45 minutes -3 hours
- Brush your teeth
- Cover bottom of trays with the desensitizing gel (so important!)
- Time to sleep!
The first time I whitened I was pleasantly surprised that I didn’t experience any sensitivity. I did however have a slight panic attack when I noticed that several white streaks were appearing across my teeth. I proceeded with the desensitizing gel and fired an email off to my rep in the morning. She responded right away indicating that I was experiencing decalcification. After reassuring me that it was not the end of the world (which I obviously thought it was) she told me to take a break from whitening and simply to use the desensitizing gel, which I did. She even went a step further by sending me a few extra syringes of the desensitizing gel, which I was honestly so grateful for. I resumed with the whitening followed by the desensitizing gel and was relieved that she was right.
Throughout my whitening treatments, I did experience some slight irritation and discomfort if the whitening gel came into contact with my skin– particularly on the roof of my mouth. As soon as I wiped away the excess gel with a tissue, the discomfort went away. This is just something to be mindful of, but I had a similar experience when using store bought whitening strips, so don’t let this discourage you!
So how long should you be whitening for? This is entirely up to you! They recommend whitening between 45 minutes-3 hours per day. I never whitened longer than 45 minutes since I was experiencing decalcification, and I used the desensitizing gel for the full 30 minutes (they recommend 15-30 minutes).

What I really liked about the Smile Brilliant whitening system is how easy it is to use. The instructions are clear, their staff are extremely helpful and knowledgeable, and I love how you get to make your own impressions with the custom fitted trays. What I personally struggled with is my schedule. Since I do not work a typical 9-5 job I found it a challenge to consistently keep up with the whitening. There were days where I would be at work for up to 18 hours and whitening just wasn’t an option with the jet lag and time change of the various countries I was travelling to. If you can work your way into a routine, ideally whitening sometime after dinner and applying the desensitizing gel prior to going to sleep, this will most likely help you to achieve the best results, but again you need to find what works best for YOU!
For me, the best part about Smile Brilliant’s whitening system is that it is literally delivered to your door step. No need to step foot into a dental office (the phobia is real) or having to squeeze in time around your busy work schedule. Compared to what you will be charged at the dentist, the price cannot be beat.

So interesting! I have never heard of that brand before, but I have been curious to try an at-home whitening treatment. I drink a lot of soda, so my teeth could really use it lol. I bought the black charcoal stuff, but haven’t had the guts to try it, but I might have to look into this. Great Article!

I’ve been interested in trying one of these but I think I’ve had too much work done on my teeth.

I think it it worth reaching out to Smile Brilliant and asking about that if it’s something you are really interested in! I will be honest, I have a chipped tooth and I don’t think it really affected it. I was worried about discolouration, but to my pleasant surprise, I don’t think you can see a difference. If you look at my before and after photos closely you may be able to see which tooth is chipped and had work done. Definitely enter the giveaway though!
